Volunteer Position: Site Assistant

Soar Detroit is seeking volunteer Site Assistants who will serve as Soar ambassadors to students and others while helping with tasks needed for the smooth operation of our tutoring program. We are grateful for your involvement and willingness to help Detroit's youth.  

VOLUNTEER DUTIES

  • Greet, engage, and encourage students.

  • Interact with site staff and other volunteers in a gracious, professional manner.

  • Help with escorting students to and from the tutoring space.

  • Assist students with computer or internet issues as needed.

  • Assist with room setup and cleanup.

  • Help with other tasks as needed at the tutoring location and/or Soar office.

MINIMUM COMMITMENT

  • Once per week; 2-3 hours, depending on the site.

  • October-May; summer opportunities also.

  • Multiple sessions available at locations throughout Detroit.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Volunteers must complete background screening as required by the tutoring site.

  • Soar training on organizational policies and procedures.

  • Recommended: complete Soar Reading Mentor training.
